My Beautiful Garden

My watermelon patch
This is my vegetable basket entry for our 2013 county fair
My vegetable basket took 1st place in our local fair. This class required that you include five different varieties of vegetables, which you grew yourself. I was so proud of myself for this accomplishment. Spring and early summer for us was very wet, some parts of our gardens washed out and we had to replant in some areas. Last year I had four gardens, the first garden was red potatoes, yukon gold potatoes, russet potatoes, red and green cabbage and green bell peppers. The second garden was silver queen corn, romaine lettuce, peas, beets, carrots and onions. Third garden was cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, lima beans, and green beans. Fourth garden was bird house gourds, mini pumpkins, regular size pumpkins and watermelons.

My Mini Blue Roan "Icy"

Meet my mini horse, "Icy".

He is a miniature blue roan horse that we've had about four years. We bought him from another farm that was down-sizing. He is a small package with a spunky attitude, he loves showing off for the camera. That's when I get the best pictures of him, when we first turn him out into his run, he is so fun to watch. In the winter his coat is a thick black, but when he sheds in the spring it becomes the grey "frosty" look thus reflecting his name.
