Is Your Head In The Clouds?

Heard the old saying, "Is your head in the clouds"? Well on this day mine certainly was. Late evening at my house, and what beautiful pictures this would make. So I grabbed my camera and started shooting. The most stunning cloud formations and the colors. Breathtaking! Take a look and see for yourself.

I think it is perfectly fine to have you head in the clouds, anytime you choose

      Local Fair Time Again

It's that time of year again. I am so excited to be entering several different exhibits for the thirteenth year. I first got started with the fair when my sister called me, many years ago to see if I wanted to enter a cake contest. I did and took first place, I was hooked and have be entering every year since. There are many classes/division to enter. Some of my favorite are photography, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, dried flowers, art, jams and jellies. This year 2015, I am entering some of my vegetables, took "Best In Show" last two years in that division. Also some jam, pickle relish and watermelon rind pickles. I will also be entering several photos, one art piece, one item in the sewing division and one item in the crocheting division. Wish me luck! I'll post later as to how I placed, including some more pictures.

                        Frog (Toad) Hot Tub

What is a frog (toad) hot tub you may ask? It's a dog water bowl that has set in the heat all day and became quite warm. It was 92 degrees here today! Kept wondering how the heck the dogs water was getting so dirty. We were replacing it everyday with fresh water. Also this water dish is on my front porch, there is two steps to reach the porch.
When walking the dogs last night, just before bedtime, my husband says you got to see this, bring your camera. So I jumped up and grabbed my camera. Remember it was dark so we had to use a flashlight, lighting in picture not the best.
This little guy must have been soaking in his own personal hot tub for quite awhile. Just to make it onto the front porch he has to be a great jumper. I had noticed the dirt in the dogs bowl for about a week. He did not seem to mind all of the attention and went right on soaking. In fact he even took a couple of dunks under the water while we were standing there. Show off!

What?
Nothing like a good soak
The temperature is perfect
I'll check the water bowl again tonight. If he brings a girlfriend, I'll really be freaked out!

There's A New Girl In Town and Yes She Is Gorgeous!

This is the newest member of the family. Her name is "Miss Molly". Per her request, she is looking for a friend. With this being said of course any candidate, must meet her high standards of elegance and know how to treat a chick (lady) right. We will be keeping our eyes open for any prospects. So remember we are looking for a stud muffin, I mean companion for our girl. I'll keep you posted."Miss Molly" is a white silkie, about four months old. She does not seem to mind being handled and seems to have a good nature. We are limiting handling her for now, until she has a few days to settle in.

Gorgeous!!
Do these feathers make me look fat?
Strutting her stuff
Silkie chickens make good pets, they are gentle, like attention, are very soft and beautiful, make wonderful mothers. They lay a creamy brown color egg. Because of their downy feathers, they can't fly, which can be a good thing. If you have ever tried to catch a chicken you know what I mean. Silkies do not like cold weather and must be kept warm. We use heat lamps in our chicken coop during the winter months. I have had many people tell me their hens don't lay well in the winter. Do you like to do anything when you are froze? Warm happy chickens will continue to lay eggs even in the coldest months.

My husband, two sons and my sons father-in-law all took a full day charter out of "Teach's Lair Marina" on "Twin Bills" with captain Willie Foster from Hatteras N.C. The largest fish (bull head dolphin, center top row in picture below) was caught by my sons father-in-law. All together they caught about two hundred fifty pounds of fish, all dolphin with one tuna. This was a first time charter fishing trip for everyone.
