Sloppy Joe
3 lbs. ground beef 1 1/2 cups ketchup 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar 2 tablespoons apple cidar vinegar
Brown the ground beef in a large saucepan, on medium heat, drain well. Add drained beef back to saucepan, reducing heat to low. While beef is browning, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar, in a small mixing bowl. Add the ketchup mixture to the ground beef, simmer on low heat for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring once. Serve on a hamburger bun. I like to serve my sloppy joe with chips and a pickle.

I love these with a PASSION!!! For mine I use very lean ground turkey instead of beef. I also add a few dashes of garlic powder, and a TBSP or two of prepared yellow mustard in with my ketchup mixture (I use two cups of Ketchup) I usually eye the brown sugar using about 3 very large spoonfuls. I also brown my meat with finely chopped onions and green peppers for added extra flavor and thickness (I use a food chopped to get them chopped extra fine) I simmer mine on a very low simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. I also like to go a little Paula Deen and butter two buns and pan fry them butter side down until nice and golden brown, butter melted deep into the bun. It adds great flavor and an amazing slight crisp that pairs amazing with the homemade sloppy joe mixture. I also top my freshly scooped sloppy joe mix with a nice shredded sharp cheddar cheese, it melts very fast and adds that extra UMPH that I love. (I find this dish ALWAYS tastes better the next day heated up as the flavors have the chance to marry and combine overnight) I usually can cook this dish on my own and have leftovers to enjoy for about 3 or 4 days. This has become one of my staple dishes. I serve with the classic lays potato chips, and I will def have to try with a pickle next time! I also will try the apple cider vinegar next time, I will use the vinegar instead of mustard next time to see how it turns out.
